Volunteer: Elyse Bernstein


Graduated with my degree in Environmental Sciences and left three months later to begin my serivce as an Environment Volunteer in Nicaragua.  Worked and lived in an amazing town in the region of Leon.  Taught elementary school natural science and environmental education, trained teachers in classroom activities and management, and trained students and teachers alike in gardening, composting, tree nurseries, and environmental protection.

  1. Nicaragua ¿Donde está la gallina?

    During a family birthday, my little host brother was dying to have his picture taken with one of the family's chickens.  After a couple of attempts and my entire host family rolling on the floor laughing, we finally got this picture.  Humor truely knows no culture boundaries!
